Muckelroy was named a second-team All-Big 12 linebacker by the Associated Press following his senior season, during which he had 102 tackles, 11 TFL and two sacks. During that time, he helped lead Texas to the No. 8 national ranking in scoring defense on its way to the BCS National Championship Game.

The 6-2, 235-pounder finished with 291 tackles, 24 TFL and five-and-a-half sacks for his Longhorns' career.

The NFL Scouting Combine is the annual job fair for prospective new NFL players, where prospects are put through a series of drills, tests and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel including head coaches, general managers and scouts.

Some other area players invited to attend include Longview's Trent Williams (Oklahoma), Spring Hill's Brandon Carter (Texas Tech), Lufkin's Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State) and Tyler Lee's Ciron Black (LSU).

Former Marshall player

in line for Nacogdoches job

A former Marshall standout will be joining the East Texas football coaching ranks soon.

The Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel reported Wednesday that Scott Ford will become the new head football coach and assistant athletic director at Nacogdoches High School.

The school was set to hold a school board meeting for approval of the move Thursday night.

Ford has spent time as a head coach at Class 5A Los Fresnos and Joshua. His overall record is 69-25 in eight seasons, including a 34-5 stretch from 2006 to 2008 at Los Fresnos.

Ford played at Marshall before moving on to stints at Sam Houston State and North Texas during his college playing days.

Ford will replace the retiring Bill Harper, who served as Marshall's head coach from 1991 to 2001.
